Grounds for Change is a family owned and operated coffee roasting business located in the Pacific Northwest . They roast their 100% Fair Trade, Organic coffee in small batches to ensure that you receive the freshest coffee possible.
Grounds for Change Coffee-
- Certified Organic Coffee
Organic coffee is grown without the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers, thereby assuring the health of the soil, forest and farmers. All of the coffee we roast is certified organic coffee.
- Certified Fair Trade Coffee
Fair trade coffee gives farmers a better standard of living and producer cooperatives are guaranteed a minimum fair price for their crop. All of the coffee we roast is Fair Trade Certified coffee.
- Shade Grown Coffee
Shade grown coffee protects migratory bird habitat, reduces clear-cutting in tropical rainforests, promotes biodiversity and enhances flavor.
- CarbonFree® Certified Coffee
To get a product certified CarbonFree®, a company must submit the item for a detailed Life Cycle Analysis, a third-party process that formally scrutinizes the carbon emissions associated with every step in production. The resulting analysis accounts for and offsets all carbon dioxide emissions, in our case, starting with a coffee plant and ending with an empty bag of coffee.
- Wholesale Coffee Program
Grounds for Change is proud to offer a unique coffee wholesale program for our Organic, Fair Trade coffee that is geared towards independent cafes.
I love products that make you feel good to use them - it's how it should be. Products that do no harm like Grounds For Change.
I got to try the 3-pack Sampler. It was fun to choose the coffee although a bit tough to do, as they all sounded really good. I ended up choosing Nordic blend, Espresso blend, and the 2009 Holiday Blend. My favorite is the 2009 Holiday Blend, but I'm very happy with all my selections.
I like an X-bold cup of coffee light sugar & milk. My Grounds for Change coffee selections all make a really good flavored cup off coffee - just how I like it. Each coffee having it's own subtle characteristics that are unique to that blend.
Selecting a coffee from Grounds of Change is almost like selecting wine - along with a detailed description of the flavor and region, you are given a flavor profile which gives you a detailed description of the roast, aroma, body, and brightness. You leave feeling a little more enlightened about coffee and really excited to try your selections!
Everything is custom - you even select the grind - whole bean, french press, metal filter, paper filter, or espresso grind.
I'm having a cup right now as a matter of fact, and I'm running low so lets get to the fun part.

You can purchase Grounds for Change at their site where you can find all their coffee blends, teas, chocolate, gifts, accessories & their coffee of the month club.

I learned farmers in Peru receive a higher price per pound for their coffee, above the going rate, to help support local domestic violence programs.

Experts agree that the flavor of shade grown coffee is superior to that of full-sun coffee and that it is significantly less bitter. This is very interesting - I always wondered why coffee doesn't taste as good as it did years ago - now I know!

They have East Timor "Ramelau" Limited coffee. This coffee reminds me of my father-in-law who liked dark molasses, because it has a sweet aroma with notes of dark molasses and butterscotch

I learned they are so sustainable they recycle everything from excess coffee chaff to their burlap bags, and only use recycled paper. MMM, thank you for the giveaway!
I like that a number of community-based programs in coffee-growing countries directly benefit from the purchase of our coffee. For example, farmers in Peru receive a higher price per pound for their coffee (above the going rate for certified coffee) to help support local domestic violence intervention programs and small business loans for women.
I learned that Grounds for Change's coffee is Fair Trade Certified by TransFair USA and our Organic Certification meets the stringent Organic Processor Standards enforced by the United States Federal Government and the Washington State Department of Agriculture.
