Happy ~ By Ian K. Smith, M.D. ~ GIVEAWAY!!! ~ Ends 5/04

"Don't worry; be happy" is well-intentioned advice that won't go far with most doubters. What does work is a realistic motivation booster that makes good sense and changes your behavior. Ian K. Smith's Happy does just that by applying the same realistic, perennially positive approach that enables him to be such a successful diet guru. This succinct primer teaches readers how to understand and change their mindsets and enhance their human involvement. Realistic optimism sensibly presented.

Happiness isn’t the too-brief rush that comes from getting something you’ve wanted—it’s the lasting great feeling that comes from becoming someone you want to be…..

And someone others want to be with, too. No matter where you start, Happy can help you improve your life and permanently alter your happiness set point.

Dr. Ian has inspired millions to lose weight. In counseling dieters, Smith learned that while achieving hard-fought and worthy goals can help make a person happy, even these real accomplishments aren’t what make happiness stick.

In Happy, Ian Smith presents a program that motivates readers to understand the behaviors and mind-sets that work and last, including:

--How to be optimistic

--Why optimism and realism are not opposites

--How to get outside yourself

--The importance of family and community

--Why involvement leads to contentment

--Shedding the treadmill mentality of getting and spending

--Tapping the power of simple pleasures

--Mastering modern life to live in the moment

--What we can learn from the Danish people

--How to be, not just to do

When im sick (especially when i have a migrane) my cats always seem to know and lay with me. Its something so small and simple, yet knowing that they somehow understand i don't feel good, and that they want to stay with me makes me feel a bit better

I heard you on the Opie & Anthony Show on XM 202 today and if I don't win your book, I'll buy it off Amazon. I've bought other books from guests they've had on before. I started my journey to normal BMI on 01 APRIL 10. I started at 533 LBS & just got out of my 1st workout at the gym. My family told that I've got to succeed this time even if it takes time.
The thing that makes me really happy is to play w/ our 3 year old black & white male and 2 year old red & white female on my sister & brother-in-law's bed. The dogs bite at each other playfully & paw or cuddle up to us depending on who's paying the most attention to them. Also,I love going out for a drive in the country, alone or with friends and stopping at a local place along the way for food and/or lodging. Learning new stuff & sharing it is joyful too. My favorite websites for learning are http://www.instructables.com, howtopedia.org, ehow.com, about.com & youtube.com. Recently I joined www.patuxentlapidaryguild.com and have learned chain maille weaving & production, also lost wax silver casting. If you're near Annapolis,MD look them up,dues are only $40 per year & $5 per use of shop w/ tools.
