The beauty market is grabbing hold of the benefits of oils for beautiful skin. But any experienced skin care guru knows the importance of having pure oils in your cabinet. That can be kitchen cabinet even. In fact, that's the best place to start.
Many oils that are healthy for us in the kitchen are as healthy for our beauty regimen. When you use edible oils, you know you are getting pure oils that contain no chemicals - food grade.
Many of us grew up thinking oil + skin = breakouts. But our skin produces oils to lubricate and waterproof the skin. You need the oil to keep your skin flexible during normal movement of the face. I hope your days are filled with laughter, but if your skin isn't properly lubricated, you'll develop laugh lines to prove it.
How To Use Oils On The Skin:
- Oil Cleansing -
Oil dissolves oil.
Just think about gum stuck in hair. What do you use to take it out? Another oil - peanut butter, or straight oil. Or how you remove sticky tape residue from a surface - an oil based solvent or straight oil. Same with your skin. The oil used to massage your skin will dissolve the oil that has hardened along with impurities inside your pores. The steam will open your pores, allowing the solidified oil to be removed.
It's as basic as that.
I practice oil cleansing twice a week and love the results.
- Moisturizing -
For centuries people have taken advantage of the healing and moisturizing benefits of oils for the skin. Before modern times there were no fancy cremes that "included" oils, people used single ingredient oils the way nature intended.
Oils absorb quickly and do not leave oily residue but are used by the skin. Oils are rich with vitamin A and vitamin E and are also packed with anti-oxidants, Omega-6 fatty acids, and linoleic acid.
