#DIY Simple Cinnamon Ornaments - Make Memories & Scent Your Home

Scent is something that really connects me to the holiday season. It's why just can't do an artificial tree. Coming downstairs in the morning to the scent of pine only happens one joyous time of year and I'm not going to miss it for the world.

Same with baking spices - cinnamon, nutmeg, clove. Used heavily in the kitchen at this time of year, smelling that spicy scent filling the house can turn on Christmas spirit in an instant.

This dough is super easy to make and work with. A good project for kids. Within an hour they can see their work hanging on the tree!

You really will notice the scent from your ornaments, especially when the house is toasty warm - it's nice!

* 1 1/2 cups (8oz) ground cinnamon (can add nutmeg/clove –whatever you want!)
* 1 cup applesauce (store bought works best)
* 1/3 cup white school glue

Just mix together. If the dough is too dry add a bit more glue. Roll out to at least 1/4 inch - too thin and they will crack. Use cinnamon on your rolling surface & rolling pin if dough sticks. Use a small straw or skewer to make a hole for the string. ( make sure you get a complete hole on both sides )

Bake for 1 hour on 200. I flipped mine over and did the other side for about 30 mins. Then let cool. String and hang on tree. They will cure overnight on the tree.
